Set up automatic backups, and restore one

AgroPay keeps your data on your own computer, and we do not hold a copy. If the computer’s disk fails and there is no backup, the data cannot be recovered by anyone. Five minutes here prevents that.

Automatic backups

1. Open Backup from the menu (admin login).
2. Under Automatic backups, choose Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
3. Under Where to save backups, press Browse, open your pen drive or another drive, and pick the folder.
4. Under How many backups to keep, choose Keep all backups or the last 5, 10, 20 or 30.
5. Press Save schedule, then Back up now to this folder once to test it.

Backups run while AgroPay is open. If a scheduled time was missed because the app was closed, the backup runs the next time you open AgroPay. The dashboard warns you when a backup is overdue, and the Backup screen says in plain words if the automatic backup is not working.

Best practice: keep the pen drive away from the shop computer, so one theft, fire or virus cannot take both.

Download a backup by hand

Download backup now saves the whole shop, products, sales, customers, dues and settings, into one file named like AgroPay-backup-20260913-2010.abd. Copy it somewhere safe.

Restore a backup

Restore replaces all current data with the backup, so use it only to recover lost data or when moving to a new computer.

1. Under Restore from a backup, choose the backup file.
2. Press Restore this backup, then type RESTORE to confirm.

AgroPay checks that the file is a genuine AgroPay backup and warns you if it belongs to a different shop. It saves a safety copy of your current data first, and brings an older backup up to the current version. An active licence on this computer is kept.
